Allowing children to learn and to grow up while they play: that’s the goal that the HaBaWaBa International Festival pursues not only by the sports tournaments, but also by the educational and recreational workshops that it offers to the little players. In 2017 edition we have two workshop.

Here we describe the one dedicated to the U9 kids and organized by Better Future. It’s based on LEGO® Serious Play®: a methodology that uses the well-known LEGO® bricks to stimulate children’s creativity and communication skills. “Environment: protection and safeguard” is the topic of the workshop. The first task for each child is to describe a dangerous behaviour for the environment; Later all of them, one at the time, talk about their own creation and they all answer to the questions made by their teammates. “School doesn’t teach the children to speak in public – says Stefanos Azariadis, Greek, in charge of the workshop for Better Future along with Maria Ioanna Pierri -. Here we encourage them to do it. Some kids are natural and they have no difficulties to make a speech, others have to be helped. However in the end everyone of them is capable to that: children must learn to communicate, but also to listen to their friends. And finally, to work together”. As last task kids have to invent all together a story that colleagues everyone of their LEGO creations. That story will be the result of everyone’s work.

Indeed LEGO Serious Play was born to help team-building in companies and it’s based on the conviction that everyone can contribute to the discussion, the decisions and the outcome.
