Thousands of children and great champions, all united by the passion for waterpolo: that’s HaBaWaBa International Festival, a big party where, this year, you can also meet Zoltán Szécsi, the goalkeeper of three-times Olympic champion Hungary (in 2000, 2004 and 2008). Szécsi is here as president of Eger: the Hungarian club has always joined the Festival, but in this edition they have brought to Lignano Sabbiadoro more than 70 kids.

“Luckily we have a lot of kids in Hungary that want to play waterpolo, we have more than 350 children learning to swim and to play waterpolo in Eger. So when I heard that every year Eger goes HaBaWaBa I decided to go with the bigger standard we can. Everybody wants to come here and everybody plays: of course some results are not very good, but at this age we can’t decide who is a good player and who is not. Our main task is to mantain and raise the the passion for the sport and I think that HaBaWaBa is a perfect event to do that”.

When we ask Szécsi when his passion for waterpolo started, he can’t answer.  “I’ve no idea, I never noticed that. Maybe when I stop playing I realized my job was my passion so I want to bring this feeling to every child we have in Eger”.
